James Talbot Wamsley
DENVER - James Talbot Wamsley died in Denver, June 7, 2001, at the Cherry Creek Retirement Center.He was born in Belgrade, Jan.4, 1912, to George and Grace Wamsley.
The family moved to the Flathead Valley in 1917, where James attended elementary and secondary school in Charlo before entering Mount St. Charles (Carroll College) in Helena. Later he studied at Montana State College in Bozeman and the University of Washington in Seattle.
James married Venna (Ski) Horrocks in Helena in 1937. He was an employee of Glacier Production Co. and the Union Oil Co. before becoming an independent oil broker. During these years he and Ski lived in Great Falls, Denver, Cutbank and Bismark, N.D., until moving back to Denver in 1987.
James, predeceased by his wife, Ski, and brothers, Joe and Gene, is survived by his daughters Lori Kully and Ritz MacKenzie; his grandchildren, Jeena Stafursky and James MacKenzie; his brothers and their wives, George (Barbara), Philip (Lucille), Francis (Connie); his sister, Marney; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass in memory of James will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 11, at St. Joseph Church in Charlo, followed by inurnment at the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery, after which lunch will be served by the D'Aste Women's Club at the Charlo Senior Citizens Center.
