George W. Woodul was a mechanic by trade; his death occurred in Illinois in 1870, where he had moved in the "fifties." He married Amanda Allen, a native of Tennessee, and she died in Illinois sometime after his decease. Five children born to them reached maturity, namely: James Henry; Kitty and Elizabeth, deceased; Sophia (Calvert), formerly of Texas, but now living in Oklahoma, and Lucinda, deceased.
Name is also found spelled Epsey. Epsie Eldridge, wife of Alfred Buckner Eldridge, married second to William Jenkins on 11 December 1867.
Bolling's will dated 6-12-1850, proved 6-24-1850, Halifax County, Virginia, named his wife and children Caleb B., Daniel B, Ellen M., Richard F., John C., Alfred B., Henry B., Sarah Ann Cabanis, granddaughter Mildred Eldridge of Richard F., Bolling Eldridge of John C., Ellen M. Schoolfield, and brother George F. Eldridge.

Marker Text: Named for lake where in 1821 exploring party of Stephen F. Austin killed an eagle. In 1851 resident Gamaliel Good started a Houston-to-San Antonio Stage line with lakeside headquarters. In 1856, with D. W. C. Harris, Good platted Eagle Lake townsite. The Buffalo Bayou, Brazos & Colorado Railroad reached here in 1859. Early a cattle and farm market; after 1898 had rice production; later ranked as oil center and shipper of sand and gravel. Now fishing and goose hunting mecca. Home town of Gen. H. H. Johnson (born in 1895), military governor of Rome, Italy in the 1940s.
However, by that time, another transportation system had taken the place of the river. The railroad entered Colorado County in 1859, when the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos & Colorado (BBB&C) reached the fledgling city of Eagle Lake. Established in 1856 on the banks of the small lake that was already known as Eagle Lake, the new city grew around the homesite of Gamaliel Good. Before the Civil War, the railroad extended up the bank of the Colorado River to the present town of Alleyton. That town was established by the railroad in 1860 on land acquired from William Alley.
