Harrison Logan Berryhill was born in Hitchita in the Creek Nation in 1871. Harrison first married Bettie, a full-blood Creek Indian girl, who was born in 1874, the daughter of Millie. Bettie Berryhill died in Okmulgee, Indian territory, 17 January 1904. Harrison Berryhill married a second time -- in 1905 to Cecilia "Celia" Freeman, a Creek Indian girl. Celia was born in 1890, the daughter of John Freeman and Hattie (Checotah) Freeman. Hattie was later married to a Derrisaw. Celia was the granddaughter of Chief Samuel Checotah and his wife Priscellia. Harrison Logan Berryhill was a Methodist Minister and was one of the founders and builders of the Newtown Methodist Church, north west of the Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Harrison died during the depression in the 1930s. Celia and her family lived near the Newtown Creek Indian Church. Celia Berryhill died in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, about 1987. BERRYHILL OKMULGEE - Benjamin BERRYHILL was born February 26, 1914, in Okmulgee. He died September 24, 1993, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held September 18 at Newtown United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Interment was at the Berryhill Family Cemetery. He was a World War II veteran and a retired painter. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald BERRYHILL and Cecil Berryhill; two brothers and two sisters. He was survived by his children, Harrison BERRYHILL and Celia RIZZO, both of Midwest City, Wayne BERRYHILL and Regina WEATHERLY, both of Tulsa, Deborah BEAN of Okmulgee, Cynthia HASLETT of Muskogee, and Wanda MILLS of Morris; brother, Aaron BERRYHILL of Okmulgee; sisters, Hepsey RAYE of Missouri, and Elsie DOUGLAS of California; 27 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren
BERRYHILL: Muskogee, Muskogee Co. OKUnah D. BERRYHILL died in June, 1980 (no date given) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Muskogee. Wake services were held 20 June at the Cantrell Ivory Chapel and funeral services were June 21 at Newtown Indian Methodist Church, with Rev. Thomas LONG officiating. Pallbearers were Robert FREEMAN, Dave POWELL, Curtis SIMMERS, Lawrence KAHBEAH, Abraham SIMMERS, and Johnny MORGAN. Berrybill was a member of Tallahassee Methodist Church. Survivors include his mother, Celia BERRYHILL, brothers Aaron and Benjamin BERRYHILL both of Okmulgee, sisters Elsie DOUGLAS of Bullhead City, AZ, Hepsey FREEMAN of Shawnee, KS, and Martha BERRYHILL of Okmulgee.
