Dick “Cotton” Goble was born January 17, 1930, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Woodward and Bertha (Gish) Goble. He passed away September 21, 2006, at his home in Chickasha .

He came to Chickasha in his early twenties to work in the oilfield which was his career until he retired and then he worked at Livingston Machinery until he retired a second time.
Cotton married the love of his life, Leora Carter on February 6, 1950, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two daughters: Tammi and Debbie. They had 48 wonderful years together before Leora preceded him in death on October 6, 1998.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He always made time for his girls and worked hard to see that his family was provided for.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Tammi and Ricky Bailey, of Chickasha, and Debbie and Andy Sprehe, of Kansas City; brother, Bud Goble of Jenks, Oklahoma; sister, Effie Nighswonder of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandsons: Rusty Bailey and his wife Elizabeth and Corey Sprehe; granddaughter, Michelle Sprehe; two great-grandchildren; special friend, Eldora Wright; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Jack and Loretta Young, Faye and Vic Smith, and Colleen Allen.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Colonel Mark Hanson joined the National War College faculty in 2003. He is a Field Artilleryman who has served in direct support assignments with the 1st Infantry, 3d Armored, and 4th Infantry Divisions. He commanded 1st Battalion, 79th Field Artillery Battalion and followed as the Deputy Commander, Field Artillery Training Center, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Colonel Hanson is also an Operations Research Systems Analyst with tours in this capacity in Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, as a Joint Analyst for US European Command, Stuttgart Germany, and as the Chief, Force Strategy Division, and Chief of Staff at the Center for Army Analysis, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Commissioned in 1979 with a BS degree from the United States Military Academy, he also holds an MS in Operations Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School (1989) and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College (2000). Colonel Hanson’s areas of expertise include Army doctrine, Operations Analysis, including analysis requirements in support of Total Army Analysis and the Quadrennial Defense Review. In addition to the Department of Military Strategy and Operations core courses, Colonel Hanson teaches an elective in ethics.

Matthew John Kane

Member of first Okla. Supreme Court consisting of 5 justices, eventually served as Chief Justice. Was one of the delegates from Kingfisher Oklahoma to the US constitutional convention for Okla admission
Was second of nine children.

Justice Kane was the second of nine children. Started schoolds at age 6 in Venango cty Pa.. He worked for Buffalo, Pitsburg and Western Railway, and shortly promoted to express messenger between Oil City and Bufalo.In 1885 entered Georgetown U and graduated 6/1887 with Bachelor of Law. In 1917 Georgetown bestowed honorary doctor Of Law degree.In 12/1887 he located at Wichita Ks and associated with Carlisle and Carlisle. John Carlisle was a US Senator from Ky and Secretary of Treasury under President Cleveland and Speaker of the House gave Kane letter of intro to his sons law firm.Carlisle and Carlisle. The firm later in bad times forced Kane to return to telegraphy and he relocated to Okla City, but shortly there after returned to law at Harper Ks. firm of Parry Kane and Dean On 4/22/1889 when Okla land run opened up , he moved and settled at Kingfisher Ok. Shortly thereafter became Chief deputy for US Marshal in Ok for Pat Nagle. He was lecturer at Okla University and was elected to Hall of Fame of New York. He also contributed to Harvard Law Review. In 1906 became elected as member of Constitutional convention. In 1907 elected member of Supreme Court. In January 1909 was elected second Chief Justice , reelected again in 1914.


KANE, MATTHEW J., lawyer. Kingfisher, born Niagara county, N. Y., November 28, 1863, son of Anthony and Mary (Dunn) Kane. Graduated Irom law department of Georgetown University, Wash- ington, D. C. Went to Wichita, Kan., in 1888, and to Harper, Kan., in 1889. Located in Kingfisher in 1889, closely following original opening of Oklahoma. Is a Democrat, was member constitutional convention; and was elected to the state supreme court first elec- tion after statehood, and has been elected successively ever since. Is at present chief justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, serving his third term, and temporarily resides in Oklahoma City. Mem- ber the B. P. O. Elks and W. 6. W. Married June 9, 1908, to Miss Kathleen Reagan, of St. Paul, Kan. Two children: Matthew John, Jr., and Kathleen.


Pioneer Judge Illness contracted at home Christmas Eve claims Noted Justice. When Oklahoma Territory was opened to settlement in 1889. he established law practice in Kingfisher. A member of the consitutional convention in 1906-1907, Justice Kane took an important part in framing the state consitution, and in latter year was elected justice of the supreme court. He is the first member of the original supreme court to pass away. Since 1907 Justice Kane has coninually been elected from the third district. Aside from his service as a member of the supreme court, Justice Kane held but one office during his career, that of assistant United States Marshal in territorial days. His superior officer then was Patrick S Nagle, Marshal. In 1909 he married Kathleen Regen, of Kansas City who survives him, and three children. H/O Kathleen Reagan. S/O Anthony Kane & Mary Dunn. On January 8, 1921, the Supreme Officers divided the district of Oklahoma and Arkansas, making a separate district of Oklahoma. The Chief Justice Kane Assembly was officially instituted on January 1, 1930.
The Assembly was named Chief Justice Kane General Assembly in honor of its first Charter Member, Matthew J. Kane, who resided at 318 East llth Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in Niagara County, New York, November 28, 1863. Entering Oklahoma as an 89'er on April 22, 1889 at Kingfisher. He became one of the first Justices of the Oklahoma Supreme Court in 1907 and was Chief Justice from 1909 to 1912. He was initiated into the first three Degrees of the Order from Enid Council No. 1014 on December 26, 1907 and into the Charter Class of the 4th Degree on February 22, 1911 at Oklahoma City. Having graduated from Georgetown University in 1887 and received an L.I.D. degree in 1917, he became a member of the American Bar Association and of the Oklahoma Bar Association, an Elector of the "Hall of Fame" of New York University, the first Lecturer of Oklahoma University, and a member of the "Oklahoma Institute of Arts and Sciences." He married Kathleen Reagan at St. Paul, Kansas in 1909 and became the father of two sons and one daughter. He died January 3, 1924 of pneumonia. His son, Anthony Reagan Kane is now a 4th Degree member of this Assembly.

Anthony's father died when he was only 12 years
old, and his mother died when he was only 13 years
old. Anthony went to Scotland, then to Liverpool,
working in shipyards. He then made his way to
Quebec, Canada, then to Buffalo NY in 1847. He worked on boats on
Erie Canal. In 1864 moved family to Venango cty Pa. engaging in hotel business.
