From Danny's dad, David Louis Sprehe:By now many of you may have heard that our son, Dan Sprehe, died yesterday after a 21 year battle with diabetes. We are deeply saddened, however we are comforted in the belief that Dan is no longer suffering and that Our Loving God has taken him back to a place of peace. Dan’s work here was finished.SPREHE, DANIEL BRENNAN, age 32, born February 20, 1978, passed away September 28, 2010 from complications of diabetes. Danny’s family takes comfort knowing that our Blessed Lord has freed him from his suffering. His work here was finished. Dan Sprehe was the loving and devoted son of Mary Lynn (Halpin) Sprehe and David Louis Sprehe, and the faithful and dear brother of Michael David Sprehe and Stephen Christopher Sprehe (Wendy). OBITUARY MONTINE PRICE SPREHEOn January 15, 2010, we lost our beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, MONTINE PRICE SPREHE. She died peacefully at her home in Oklahoma City. Montine was born December 13, 1938, the oldest daughter of Dr. Joel Scott Price and Virginia Kincheloe Price Giles, both of whom predeceased her. She is survived by her sister Kelsey Price Walters and husband Dr. Roland Walters, and brother William Scott Price and wife Mary. Her oldest brother, Robert Allison Price, died in 1979, survived by his widow, Gudbjorg Price Chesnut. Montine was also close to her seven Price family nieces and nephews.Montine is survived by her husband Paul Francis Sprehe, and her children, Scott Hervey Foerster, wife Lani and children Daniel, Robert, Genevieve and Suzi; Steven Price Foerster, wife Ann and children Ashley and Price; Stanton William Foerster, wife Lisa and children Kailee and Harrison; and daughter Montine Suzanne (Tia) Sprehe Adams, husband Brad and children Barrett and Marin. Her stepchildren are Mary Mangus, Paul Sprehe Jr, David Sprehe, Betsy Currey, Jeni Fair, Nancy Sprehe, Jane Alley, and Tim Sprehe, and their spouses. Montine and Paul have 22 grandchildren and one great-grandson between them, a source of great pride and the basis for many fun and raucous family reunions and gatherings.Montine attended school in Oklahoma City at Edgemere Elementary, and Casady and Northwest Classen High Schools. In 1957, she graduated from Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington, DC, and that same year returned home to marry Dr. David William Foerster. She attended Oklahoma City University, graduating in 1961 with a B.S. in Mathematics while caring for her young sons, then taught math at Bishop McGuinness High School. She married Paul Sprehe on April 2, 1973 and continued to share her talents and enthusiasm for many years as school volunteer and Scout den mother. Montine was a sustaining member of Jr. League and active in DAR. She was President of Philomathea, the oldest book study club in Oklahoma, and served in the Red Cross during the September 11th terrorist attacks. She was active in the Republican Party. When Paul was elected National President of ACEC in 1993, she quickly slipped into the role of “First Lady of Consulting Engineers” as they traveled the entire USA, plus Europe, Canada, Japan and Central America.Montine was a skillful painter, and filled her home with many oil paintings - her favorite subject was her children. She loved the mental challenge of duplicate bridge and sudoku puzzles.Montine was an accomplished entertainer in her home, but perhaps her greatest skill, known to many, was as a story teller. In fact, she acquired quite a reputation telling stories, and was always asked to tell stories about her father, Dr Price, her brothers and sister, her children, and of course herself. We never tired of listening to her stories because she always had a different twist to every one.The family is especially grateful to her caregivers for their kindness and attention the past 22 months: Linda Williams, Robin Hudspeth, Markeetha Brown, Coquese Leotaud. We greatly miss our Montine, whom the grandchildren affectionately called “TEEN.” She was a beautiful, gracious, vivacious, creative, and loving person who brought much sunshine into all of our lives. She fought a courageous battle against cancer, never complaining.Funeral services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 2(PM) on Monday, January 18 with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Park Funeral Home.
