Willaim McBride was a captain in the company "B", 11th Missouri
Infantry , serving under General Price's division. He was captured
Sept. 10, 1863 by the Union Army and was a prisoner until June 11,1865.
He spent time at Fort Delaware and was transferred to Cairo, Illinois as
a prisoner. Sarah, his wife, died during 1865, don't have the exact date of
death, and left behind 3 children; Hugh Franklin,Mary Jane, and John
Green. He married Sarah Jane Hampton June 14,1866, he was 33 and she
was 22. Together they had 5 or 6 children. They were married in Benton
County, Missouri . They moved to Texas in the early 1870's where all
his children with Sarah Hampton were born. One son, Alonzo McBride,
born Feb 8,1883 in May,Brown, Texas.
Alonzo married Ethel Beals March 19,1912 and they lived in Greenlee
County, Arizona where most of the McBride family had moved to . They
had 4 children, Myrtle,1913, died 1914 of pneumonia and dysentery, Helen
Louise, Feb 8,1917 died 1988, Homer Guy born 1920 died 1992 and finally
Donald, born 1927 and died 1999. Donald had a son Lonny.
Lonny's real name is Lon William McBride and he was named after his
grandfather, Alonzo, who's nickname was Lon. Another note about Hugh
Franklin, He married Robbie Ann McCleskey and they had 9 children
together .Kathleen met Lonny in Rock Springs Wyoming May of 79 and married
July of 80. They have no children, but Lonnie did have a daughter, Georgette
by his first wife, Georgeanne Bickle.
The ship was called the SERPENT of Baltimore. The list of
passengers were sworn by Archd. McCockell, master, at Londonberry, 30
April, 1803. It lists as passengers, two McBrides. One being a Catherine
McBride age 24 and James McBride, a farmer, age 25. If he is 25 in 1803,
that means he was born 1778. The information that I have seen on James
McBride has approximate birth as 1777 to 1782. This person falls in that
range and traveled to Maryland as lore has it. The list shows that they
were from Rosquill. Rosquill is a town in the County of Clare.James came from Ireland and settled in Maryland and Andrew Jackson
moved to Tennessee and settled around Jackson. Andrew then went to Arkansas
around 1834 or 1835 and built the old loghouse, east of Havana, in 1836. Died
before 1820 because Mary was HOH in 1820 census. " James and Mary
(Harrelson) McBride were in Kentucky from 1802 -1809; Lawrence Co., TN in
1820;Wayne Co., TN from 1830 thru 1839." "FIRST CENSUS"
