HENRY BLANEY, 87, PIONEER RESIDENT OF COUNTY, IS DEAD
Henry Blaney, pioneer resident of Colorado Springs and Falcon, passed away
at a Colorado Springs hospital Monday. Rosary service will be held at the
Nolan drawing room at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Requiem high mass will be celebrated
at 9:00. Thursday in St. Mary's church. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.Mr. Blaney was born April 7, 1861 in Ulster county, Ireland, and came to the
United States at the age of 17, landing at Boston and then going to New York City.
He then went to Texas where he trailed cattle to Dodge City, Kansas, which at that
time was the end of the railroad into the West. Parents Henry(White Harry) Blaney d 1899 Ireland and Alice
Oneil. d Boston 1917 came US in 1885.Coming to Colorado Springs, he worked on the Denver and Rio Grande and Rock Island
railroads while they were building lines into Colorado. He also worked on the
construction of the old Antlers Hotel.Mr. Blaney was a pioneer cattleman and ranchman in the Falcon district where he
had made his home for 60 years. He was married to Miss. Mary Malaney in St. Mary's
Church in September of 1892. Mrs. Blaney passed away in 1939.Surviving Mr. Blaney are three sons, John, Joe and William, all of Falcon; two
daughters, Miss. Anna Blaney, Colorado Springs, and Mrs. Lucile Williams, Denver
and three grandchildren. Mr. Blaney was a member of the Woodmen of the World and
St. Mary Catholic church.Fern was a school teacher

Blaney, 319 11th St., died at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at the home of her son-in-law, George Hedge-Peth of 211 W. Myrtle street, Fort Collins.Ellen Goodfellow was born in Central city, May 8, 1865, moving with her family to Greeley in 1884 and was married to William F. Blaney in 1885. She has since resided in Greeley.Mrs. Blaney is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Devlin and daughters, Nadine and Mary Arlene of Wichita, Kans., and by one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Blaney and children, Billy and Jean and George Hedg-Peth of Fort Collins. Her daughter, Mrs. Laurel Hedg-Peth died Jan. 13 and another daughter, Violet died in 1912. Mr. Blaney died July 4, 1925.Beside her immediate family she leaves three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Stewart of Greeley, Mrs. Ivy Stewart of Estes Park, Mrs. Daisie Lake of Denver, and two brothers, Ralph and Ray Goodfellow of Greeley.Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 from Macy's undertaking parlors.
