James William Longley

obituary in Chattanooga Times 19 Jul 1967, p. 7: LONGLEY -
James William 82 well known resident of Apison, Tenn., died at
his home at 3:30 o'clock Wed. morning. Mr. Longley was a
member of Apison Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife
Mrs. Ada Bennett Longley, Apison, Tenn.; three sons, M. R.
Longley of Chattanooga, W. H. and O. F. Longley, Apison; one
sister, Mrs. A. C. Brown, Rockmart, Georgia; two halfsisters,
Mrs. Nellie Evans, Chattanooga, and Mrs. Grady Mase, Ooltewah,
Tenn.; two halfbrothers, J. D. and C. L. Longley, Collegedale,
Tenn.; and five grandchildren, Grady, David, Steve, Mark of
Chattanooga, and Miss Virginia Longley, Apison, Tenn. Funeral
services will be held at the Chapel of J. Avery Bryan Co. at 2
o'clock Friday afternoon, Rev. Ben Smith officiating, interment
in the Plowman Cemetery. Active pallbearers: Frank Bell, Ralph
Elliott, Jack Wheeler, Curtis Poe, Vane Jones, David Poe.
Honorary, Brady Hunley, R. K. Davidson, Lee Wrinkle, J. B.
Reno, Curtis Thatch, Roy Redman, Claud Kaneaster, Ed Murphy, G.
B. Hullander, Ralph Hullander. The body is at the funeral home
of J. Avery Bryan Co.


Dessie Ada Bennett

obituary, Mrs. Ada B. LONGLEY, 94, of Apison, Tenn., died
Friday in a local nursing home. She was a lifelong resident of
Apison and was a member of Apison United Methodist Church,
where she had taught Sunday school classes for many years. She
was the widow of J. W. Longley. Survivors include two sons, M.
B. Longley of Chattanooga, and Hood Longley of Apison; five
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Services will be
held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Valley View Chapel of Lane Funeral
Home. Burial will be in Plowman Cemetery.

Bernard Joseph Sullivan

died at home 25th and Birmingham

SULLIVAN, Bernard Joseph , 83, Tulsa, OK, died at his home Saturday, July 15, 2000. Mr. Sullivan was born in Coffeyville, KS on April 20, 1917, the son of Robert Eugene and Anna (Ford) Sullivan. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1939 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1943 he married Helen McElhone, who preceded him in death in 1994. They moved to Tulsa in 1954 where he was employed for 22 years as an independent oil lease broker. In his later years he worked for the Catholic Diocese of Tulsa as Financial Administrator, retiring in 1984. Mr. Sullivan is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Constance (Blanchard) Sullivan, Tulsa, Edward Sullivan, Westchester County, NY and Gregory Sullivan, Phoenix, AZ; by daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and John MacDonough, Milwaukee, WI, Anne Sullivan DePrimio, Tulsa and Mary and William Keller, Darnestown, MD: and by 11 grandchildren, Laura, Daniel, Anna, Timothy, Katherine and Sarah Sullivan, Stephen MacDonough, Brian, Kevin and Michael DePrimio and Julia Keller. Mr. Sullivan was also preceded in death by son, Daniel and daughter, Patricia and brothers, Robert James Sullivan and Paul Ford Sullivan. A Rosary will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, also at Christ the King. Committal prayers and interment, Calvary Cemetery. Friends are contributing in his memory to the Brother K. Bernardine Scholarship Fund, Bishop Kelley High School, 3905 S. Hudson, Tulsa, OK 74135.
