Robert James(Bob) Sullivan 443-01-5427
His family came originally from county Kerry, and believed we were the same line of Sullivan's as married to our Flynn's. Was often referred to and called "SPIKE". While growing up lived street behind us where son lives now, off 29th and Yorktown. In his last few years lived 3 doors down (off 24th Lewis), and managed to walk down to Jack IV hi-school graduation party in May 1999. Spike stated we were of same Sullivan family in Kerry.
SULLIVAN Robert James , was born in Ploesti, Rumania on November 9, 1911 where his father was working for Standard Oil of New Jersey. At age 5, the family moved to Negritos, Peru with the same company. At age 8, he and his family moved to Coffeyville, KS where his father started his own drilling company. Robert attended a Jesuit boarding school in St. Mary's, KS from age 11 to 15. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1931 with degrees in Liberal Arts and Engineering and in 1932 from Oklahoma University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He worked for Carter Oil Company from 1932 to 1948 when he left to become General Manager of C.L. McMahon, Inc. When that company was sold in 1958, he started his own independent oil and gas company with a partner, Ed Leroux. It later became Sullivan and Company and continues to operate as an independent. Robert was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Theresa Moroney Sullivan. He is survived by: 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Loretta Sullivan of Naples, FL and Robert Jr. and Jeanne Sullivan of Tulsa. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Robert was active in several industry organizations and in many Catholic Church activities, especially Catholic education. Contributions can be made to Catholic Charities, the Cascia Hall Endowment Fund, the Kelley High school Endowment Fund and the Spike Sullivan family Scholarship Fund at Notre Dame or at Saint Mary's College. Rosary will be 4:30 p.m., Sunday at St. Rita's Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. at one time took over running of old Chas L McMahon Oil Co, before going on own. His geologist was a Bill Phillips , father of Jeanne Phillips who later married his Robert Sullivan Jr..

MINCE S. JANSSEN , passed away quite suddenly at his home in Nelson last evening about 6 o'clock. He was employed as stationary foreman at the C & N W roundhouse at Nelson. He was born in Sterling Sep. 20, 1899 and is survived by his wife Cecile, one daughter Geraldine Eddy of Dixon, his mother Mrs. Fredricka Janssen of Nelson, three brothers Fred and William of Nelson, and Frank of Dixon; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Fritts of Dixon and Mrs. Raymond Ortgiesen of South Dixon and two children. The remains were taken from the Melvin Funeral home to his late residence in Nelson. Services were conducted in the home Monday with the Rev. C.L. Wagner officating. Burial in Nelson Cemetery.
