Thomas Lashbrook

Military Record:
Kentucky detached militia, Private Thomas Lashbrook, under Captain Jacob Peacock was dispatched to serve in War of 1812. Also found him listed with his brother Samual Lashbrook, (both privates) serving under Lt. Col. John Davis. A family handed down story follows: "Lt. Col. John Davis's ill equipped group went down the Ohio to the Mississippi River in leaky boats, but managed to join up with General Jackson in New Orleans. Thomas became ill in New Orleans and his brother Samuel bought a horse, putting Thomas on it and walked all the way back to Kentucky. On the last night out, Thomas was so ill that he could not remain on the horse. Samuel left Thomas with the horse and ran the last remaining miles to get help. While Samuel was explaining, Thomas came riding in. Thomas had tied himself to the saddle."
In 1822 Thomas and his brother Samuel moved to Daviess County, Kentucky. Per Shelby County, Kentucky tax records, Thomas served as security administrator for brother James Lashbrook of Daviss County, Kentucky.
In 1825 Thomas signed as surety in the administrations of the estate of his brother, George Lashbrook from Daviss County, Kentucky.
In 1823 Thomas served as security administrator for brother, James Lashbrook of Daviess County, Kentucky. He was also taxed for land owned in Shelby County, Kentucky.
In 1827 - Thomas and his family moved to Scott County, Indiana shortly after selling his land in Spencer County, Kentucky.
Thomas married Elizabeth Elliott on 3-4-1803 in Shelby County, Kentucky. Clarissa Lashbrook-Wylie (daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Lashbrook) claimed her mother was closely related to General George Washington in an article published in Wylie Genealogy by E. G. Wylie, St. Louis, MO, in 1900. I have not been able to find a copy as of yet. Their other daughter, Louisa Lashbrook-Gailbreath, claimed kinship with General Lee of the Civil War Lee's. This statement was published in the History of Coles County, Illinois - 1883. I have not found a copy of either article, yet.
Thomas died before his estate was administered on 08-13-1839 in Scott County, Indiana. His brother, John Lashbrook paid the following heirs of Thomas Lashbrook, deceased per probate book, "A" page 87a for Scott, County, Indiana:
Harrison Mitchell and his wife, Mildred Ann of Scott County, Indiana
William Gailbreath and his wife, Louisa of Coles County, Illinois
George Lashbrook and his wife, Nancy of Coles County, Illinois
Note: The last settlement was made in May of 1851.
Elizabeth lived with her eldest son, John in Scott County, Indiana after the death of her second husband John McDonald. She died between 1860 and 1870 Census.
