On July 15, 1904, an affidavit was signed (with an X) by William Helean and James Helean attesting that they were the brothers of Thomas Helean, and that Thomas Helean was never married before he married Martha O'Connor in July of 1866. William Helean was 61 years old and gave his address as Rural Route No. 1, Lovelia, Monroe County, Iowa. James Helean was 63 years old and gave his address as Weller, Monroe County, Iowa. Otto Runyan witnessed the marks.(other birth records indicate James was 59 years old at this time?)
